A DREAM DEFERRED

Real Salt Lake had made an impressive run all the way to the CONCACAF Champions League Final. Something no other MLS team had done before. It had been an incredible ride following them throughout this tournament. Wednesday was the 2nd leg of the Final played here at home with the goal aggregate at 2-2. Which meant RSL would advance to the Club World Cup with a win, 0-0 draw or 1-1 draw. We had tickets for weeks and had been waiting anxiously for this day to arrive.

Chills……

It was an incredible atmosphere and feeling inside the RioT (Rio Tinto Stadium) that night. Electricity was in the air and we all knew we were on the brink of something bigger than any of us had imagined. We were very pumped for the game. Colton even made the jumbo-tron a few times with his signs!

   

         

      

Unfortunately the ending wasn’t a happy one for all of us. RSL went down a goal right before halftime and in the second half couldn’t manage to find the back of the net once. It ended a 37 game home unbeaten streak. We felt absolutely gutted. We’ve never felt anything like we did that night. From so much adrenaline pumping through our veins to utter despair. It was an amazing run though and a privilege to be part of history. RSL proudly represented not only Salt Lake City and the MLS but U.S. Soccer in general. Next time…. Gotta keep our heads up now and look forward to an MLS Cup! RSL till we die!

HAPPY EASTER

Easter time is one of our favorite times of the year. Yes, it’s getting warmer and flowers are everywhere, but more than that, it gives us an opportunity to reflect on the events that make this holiday so special. Colton went down and took some beautiful pictures of the Salt Lake Temple in the spirit of Easter. They turned out great! He does amazing work.

         

For Easter dinner, Lorenzo had us over and we had a traditional Jewish meal that they would eat during Passover. It was really fun and the food was great. We were also able to stop by and visit the rest of our family. We are so thankful for the gospel in our lives and the knowledge that we have. We had a great weekend and hope you did as well. Happy Easter!

    

MACADOO

McGavin is Colton’s older brother. He was adopted at birth by Colton’s mother Jewelya. McGavin is a very special person and Colton and his family have loved taking care of him. He is really funny. He doesn’t speak and his hearing isn’t very good but he sure let’s you know when he’s happy! Colton does a great McGavin impression. Lately it’s been difficult for the whole family to see McGavin due to some issues but Colton arranged a visit to take him for a drive up the canyon. McGavin loves riding in cars! WELCOME HOME RSL

RSL has been doing great on their CONCACAF journey. Recently they went down to Monterrey, Mexico and earned a 2-2 draw which is great because away goals are the tie breaker in the event of a goal aggregate tie. Colton went out to Million Air Airport the other day and welcomed the team home to SLC. It was really cool and he even landed a spot on TV! He’s famous. haha. He loved meeting the players and getting all of their autographs. They really are awesome. Goooooo Real Salt Lake!

      

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD

Colton’s Dad, Lorenzo, had a Birthday last week. We love him so much. He is so giving and caring and we love going down to Lehi to visit him. He needs to go have his own channel on the Food Network because he is an amazing chef. He spoils us every time we head down there. We all gathered together for a little birthday dinner and presents Monday evening. Happy Birthday!

        

On the following Sunday we had the family come over and eat at our house. We also played some Wii. Too funny …..

            

              

WINTER CABIN SLEDDING TRIP

There’s nothing better than sledding up at the cabin with friends. Even though we sometimes take a beating on that hill, it’s worth it every time. We headed up last weekend with a bunch of friends who were eager for a good time. It was really nice to get away too. We rented a snowmobile to facilitate the hike up to the cabin which probably wasn’t the best idea, but it helped a little bit getting everything up there. Sorry for tipping it over on you Sam.

The weekend basically consisted of good food, sledding, games, and more sledding. It was a ton of fun so we’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking. If you missed it this year then make sure that you come next winter!

3 PREGNANT LADIES

It seems like they timed it just right. 2 of Mandy’s best friends are pregnant along with Mandy all at the same time. It started with Lisa and Chris announcing they were expecting in March. Then came Mandy who is due in June and right behind her was Jenny and Brett who are expecting. They are all so happy that they will all be moms at around the same time. We got together to get a few photos of them together. Yay!

             

   

OUR NEW TOY

Colton had been saving up for what seems like an eternity to justify the purchase of a new camera. He used to have the Nikon D40x which we absolutely loved but after a few years Colton grew out of it and wanted to do more. Go Figure! He researched a lot and finally decided upon the Nikon D7000. He absolutely loves it. It’s very versatile and can do so much. He’s like a kid in a candy store playing with it. Anyway lately he’s been taking some really cool HDR photos so we’ll share a few of those with you:
