REAL SALT LAKE FEVER

 

We are both really big soccer fans. In fact the first thing we did together outside of work was play in an indoor soccer game together. We both love to play competitively and it keeps us active and in good shape. So it comes as no surprise that we are both huge Real Salt Lake fans. We went to a couple of games while we were dating in 2008 and last years run to become 2009 MLS Champions was very memorable.

       

    

This year has been quite remarkable. So far we have gone to about 10 games at home and the games have been absolutely spectacular! RSL is playing by far the best soccer in the league and for that matter in franchise history as well! We’ve been to the games with friends, with family, and even by ourselves. What a record setting year it has been for the RSL squad and it’ll hopefully just get better.

            

They currently hold the record and counting for most games at home unbeaten and they have the leagues best goal differential. They are also playing in the CONCACAF Champions League as well as regular season play in the MLS. They play like a team and they are so fun to watch and they’re on pace to repeat as MLS Cup Champions. Let’s Go Real Salt Lake!

TIN FOIL DINNERS

              

As Fall was approaching we decided to take advantage of the good weather and cook up some tin foil dinners by the fire. We headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon, just a short 5 min. drive from our house, to get the festivities going. We love going up there and having a good time with friends. There’s even a cool little cave we love to hike through. Sterling was kind enough to get the firewood. It was the cream of the crop. By the way the dinners turned out amazing!

        

MOTOWNPHILLY’S BACK AGAIN

Maybe you should listen to this as you read the post because it’s gonna just pump you right up!

It’s that time of year again! Time for the Utah State Fair! And as you can gather from the song, we were fortunate enough to get tickets to the Boyz II Men concert Friday night. Our friend Kia is a big fan and he went early to wait in line for 2 hrs and get us tickets! Thanks Kia! We had a great time at the concert. Colton wasn’t a huge fan before but after he got out that’s all he could sing!

              

They were very entertaining and they’re songs are just classics! It was a blast! At one point they had everybody call they’re Moms (so Colton did), tell them that “this song is for you”, and put the phone in the air. This is the song they sang for all you mothers out there:

We Love you Mamma (Both of you)! We had so much fun there with our friends! Thanks guys!

On a side note, Colton entered the Photography contest this year and here is a small sample of the photos that he entered:

     

         

He didn’t win any prizes but it was fun to see his great photos there with all of the other competitors. We love the State Fair!

LABOR DAY WEEKEND

We wanted to a bunch of things over Labor Day weekend, all of which fell through. We planned a boating trip with friends but then the boat was sold. We tried to plan a camping trip but that fell through as well. We then tried a trip to Vegas but the hotel we wanted to stay at had no availability for the promotion. So we settled for a nice weekend enjoying good ol Utah! Colton was exceptionally happy since his Utes beat Pitt on Thursday night. Saturday morning Colton’s Dad invited us to go to the BYU home opener against Washington. He found some great seats online at the last minute so with nothing planned we gladly accepted. Mandy had a great time cheering with Lorenzo and Jeanne. Colton enjoyed the game too and even wore a blue shirt (no BYU logo of course because that’s just “too far”). BYU ended up winning! We had a great time at the game. Thanks Lorenzo!

                 

Since we had the day off Monday we decided to take a scenic hike and enjoy the good weather with our good neighbors, the Mateers. Mandy planned an awesome hike that took us up Big Cottonwood Canyon where we started from the Brighton Ski Resort and it took us up to 3 beautiful lakes along the way. It was a great hike! Colton even was able to try out the “steadicam” for the first time and compiled a little video of the trip.
